Gospel Amnesia

But now that you know God – or rather are know by God – how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles?  Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?

Galatians 4:9

Without a sense of wonder, without seeing with fresh eyes, even the most amazing things can become mundane to us.  When it comes to the gospel, the message never grows old or stale, but our faith can if we let it.  In a fallen world, our faith must be cultivated.

Mike Mason said, “The Christian life always begins in joy.  If we’ve lost sight of joy, regaining it is a simple matter of retracing our steps, going back to where we first opened our hearts to Jesus.”  The only way we can do this is by believing the gospel again and again and again. We need to employ all of our creative powers and pray for God to breathe fresh life into us. 

Be single-minded in your focus on the amazing, wonderful gospel of Jesus.  Having our sins forgiven should never become old hat to us.  It’s a stunning thing.
